Head Over Heels
Words and Music by Amity Dry and Mike Carr
This is another song I wrote with Mike, but it's a little less deep and a bit more light hearted. We really liked the title of Head Over Heels, and wrote the song around that. I was picturing a girl being so in love with a guy that has no idea she exists. You have the intoxicating feeling of falling in love, against the torture of it not being returned. I love the fact that the song is really upbeat and light hearted and then it takes a turn in the bridge, becoming quite dark. It is unexpected, and makes the song a little more different. I also think it's a great song to finish the album with because there's a key change in the last chorus that just lifts you up and makes you feel good. If it was up to me I would have a key change in every single song, but this was the only one I was allowed to have. Apparently they're cheesy, but if you ask me a bit of cheesiness never hurt anyone. But maybe that's just me?!!
My heart gets to beating
I get butterflies
Every time I see you there
Pulse starts racing
Chills run down my spin
Every time you look my way
If only I could find the right words to say
I'm head over heels
Wishing that I could make you feel
The same way that I do
When I'm thinking of you
Then you'd be head over heels like me
I get a feeling that I can't explain
Oh this could be love
Maybe I'm dreaming
To think you'd feel the same
I'm going out of my head
Hoping we could be more than just friends
Chorus
Oh baby, can't you see?
How helplessly, hopelessly, deeply I'm falling
