My Family

During this time Amity performed on numerous TV shows including The Today Show, Mornings with Kerri-Anne, Good Morning Australia, A Current Affair, Carols by Candlelight and many others. Amity also toured the country promoting her album and performing at countless shows and events, including singing the national anthem for 50,000 at an Australia v NZ Rugby Match.

In 2005 Amity released her second album ‘True To Me’ independently, with the single Rollercoaster achieving radio airplay. In 2006 Amity gave birth to a son and moved back to her home-town of Adelaide, where she continues to build a successful music career.

In 2008 Amity turned her focus to the world of cabaret, writing and starring in the one-woman show ‘Mother, Wife & the Complicated Life’. This hilarious and heart-warming show, which explores the joys and challenges of marriage and motherhood, premiered at the 09 Adelaide Fringe Festival. It was a sell out season, with the critics raving...

“Amity Dry’s first venture into the cabaret arena is a roaring success…. She has an obvious flair for comedy but is also clearly able to evoke emotion, appearing to know exactly what to do to make the audience laugh out loud (or even shed a tear)…. Slick and polished this show is hard to fault and is a definite gem of this year’s Fringe.” Adelaide Theatre Guide

“Dry is instantly likable and utterly endearing. Possessing fantastic stage presence, a beautiful voice and just the right amount of confidence to pull the one woman show off, Dry is an act to watch.” The Advertiser

Amity then performed in the 2009 Cabaret Fringe Festival and the 2010 Fringe Festival with her new show ‘Tapestry – A Tribute To Carole King.’ Again the critics were generous in their praise.

“Her voice is powerful, engaging, and flawless, pitching every note perfectly.” Adelaide Theatre Guide

In 2010 Amity adapted ‘Mother, Wife and the Complicated Life’ into a full length musical, with four female leads and a completely original score. In October 2010 this musical was shortlisted for the prestigious New Musicals Australia Development Prize for new music theatre work. This exciting new show, which Amity is both producing and starring in, will make its debut at the 2011 Adelaide Fringe Festival, with a national tour in discussions for 2012.

Amity also fronts Amity Dry and the Hepburn Band, one of Adelaide’s leading corporate covers bands, performing at events such as the State Clipsal Dinner, Premiers Olympic Appeal and South Australian of the Year Awards.

In addition to her music career Amity writes a parenting blog for the Essential Baby website, Sydney Morning Herald and The Age online. Readers have embraced Amity’s honest, heartfelt and humorous take on motherhood and her blog has become one of the most popular features on the site, with thousands of views each week.

Amity is a passionate advocate for children and is an ambassador for the South Australian charities Can Do 4 Kids, Good Beginnings and Orana. However, her greatest productions and biggest achievements to date are her 4 year old son Jamison and 7 month old daughter Poppy.

Amity Dry has been performing since she was a young child and writing songs since her first high school crush. After many years of studying music, working in piano bars, recording demos and honing her craft she stumbled onto the break she needed in 2003 when she appeared in the smash hit Channel 9 TV show, The Block.

The Block was the biggest rating TV series of the year, with over 3 million viewers tuning in to the final episode. It made its eight contestants household names and gave Amity an instant audience for her music. This opportunity allowed Amity to fulfill her lifelong ambition of recording an album of her original songs and her debut album The Lighthouse was released, peaking at #6 on the ARIA chart with certified GOLD sales.
